Mark Singleton is a financial services veteran with over 25 years of senior management experience (CEO, COO, CFO, etc.) in the insurance sector. For much of the last three decades he has been focused on developing strategies and leading major transformation efforts including: turnarounds, start-ups, and new growth initiatives. He has been active in the M&A markets, capital and reinsurance management, and is well respected in the rating agency and regulator communities.
Among Mark’s notable areas of expertise and achievement include:
Financial Management – Served as CFO for 4 different carriers managing balance sheets with assets up to $10B and capital up to $700M with all reporting consistent profitability and positive ROI’s. Led or participated in over 30 transactions (purchase/sale of carriers and blocks of business, reinsurance transactions, and capital transactions) ranging up to $2.5B in total value.
Distribution Management – Led relationships in multiple channels with national distribution organizations including Independent Brokerage Agencies, IMO’s, Workplace Benefits Brokers, and numerous niche market and specialty distributors. Achieved consistent sales growth of up to $1B annually.
Innovation and Operational Advancement – Led numerous organization-wide initiatives improving efficiencies and customer satisfaction in producer support, policyholder service, information technology, and finance transformation. Founding member of team who developed the industry’s first fully digitized policy workflow system – application/underwriting through claims – in 2001.

Through June 2021, Senior Vice President, CFO and Head of Industry Solutions for LL Global, the parent organization of LIMRA, LOMA, and the Secure Retirement Institute – the world’s largest financial services trade association with more than 1,200 corporate members across 71 countries.
Through March 2020, President and CEO of 5Star Life (the life subsidiary of the Armed Forces Benefit Association). Led new growth strategies resulting in 5Star Life moving into the top 20 issuers of group term life insurance (employer-paid and voluntary), the leader in the National Guard and First Responder markets, and as an emerging competitor in the workplace benefits market.
Through mid-2009. CEO of ULLICO Inc, a multi-line carrier owned by and serving the organized labor movement. Recruited in 2003 as CFO when the company was on the verge of bankruptcy, Mark earned the title of “Miracle Worker” from A.M. Best for his leadership and success in stabilizing the company. Promoted to CEO in 2006 and successfully implemented a renewed growth strategy focusing on the expansion of the organization’s professional liability, workplace benefits, and investment management business units.
Beginning his career with Ernst & Whinney in 1983, Mark served two life carriers before becoming CFO of F&G Life, the life subsidiary of USF&G/St. Paul, during the 1990’s. Subsequently in 2000, he joined Inviva Inc as a founding partner and CFO of the technology-based start-up life and annuity group.
A graduate of the University of Baltimore, Mark became a CPA in 1984 and has also earned the FLMI designation. He is a frequent industry speaker on financial, risk management, and strategy matters and has served numerous non-profit industry and civic organizations.
